Take the passenger seat. Keep the adventure.

You do not have to drive the ledges to experience them. A Moab Jeep tour lets a professional handle the vehicle while you watch the terrain unfold, from the climb up a sandstone fin to a canyon viewpoint beyond the trail.

Start with the kind of day you want. A private Hell’s Revenge Jeep focuses on technical terrain. A scenic Jeep outing opens different canyon routes. Hummers and custom 4x4s offer their own ride character, while longer park excursions reach beyond Sand Flats. Vehicle type and route deserve equal attention.

Our recommendation

Our pick: a private Jeep on Hell’s Revenge

Portal’s private Hell’s Revenge tour is a clear choice when you want the sandstone driving experience without taking the controls. Your group of up to four rides with a driver-guide, with an air-conditioned Jeep, admission fees, bottled water and Moab hotel pickup included.

The private format keeps the outing focused on your group, while the route combines technical sections with photo stops and canyon scenery. Travelers repeatedly mention the guide’s controlled driving and explanations. Choose it for that combination, and remember that a passenger seat still comes with the movement and exposure of an off-road trail.

The experience

Choose the terrain as carefully as the vehicle

Hell’s Revenge is a technical outing, with steep sections and off-road movement. The guide takes care of the driving, but this is not a smooth sightseeing transfer. The private Jeep tour is not suitable during pregnancy.

If you would rather make scenery the main event, the private scenic Jeep offers Gemini Bridges and Long Canyon or Hurrah Pass and Chicken Corners options. The national park rides below the main comparison are another kind of day again, with separate entrance fees and, on some routes, hiking or rafting.

  • Tips
Before you go

Before you settle into the passenger seat

Decide between a private group and a per-person ride, then check the route’s physical demands.

Arrange your Moab pickup

Provide the place you are staying when booking the private Jeep. Confirm the pickup arrangements through your reservation. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

Private group pricing

The recommended Jeep starts at $425 for a group of up to four. The Hummer and custom 4x4 options use per-person pricing, so compare the total for your party.

Comfort and suitability

The lead Jeep tour is not suitable for pregnant travelers. Technical terrain can involve substantial movement. Ask the operator about any individual suitability concern before booking.

Park trips are a different plan

The NAVTEC alternatives charge park entrance fees separately. The Needles outing includes a moderately strenuous three-mile hike. The rafting combination requires children to weigh at least 50 lb for life jackets.

Changing a reservation

The recommended private Jeep allows cancellation up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Use the deadline shown on your confirmation.

Traveler experiences

The guide makes the difference.

Private Jeep passengers highlight the guide’s driving, clear explanations and attention to the group. The steep terrain is often what makes the ride memorable.

★★★★★
It was amazing. Rika is charming. She drives carefully. Explains calmly and patiently. Even to those who don't speak the language. The route was an experience. And we felt safe with Rika driving. A great experience.

It was just perfect! The Hell's Revenge Trail in Moab is incredible and a must-see! Rika is perfect, she drives the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon smoothly in extreme conditions. The tour is complete with photo stops and lots of geological explanations. What a sweetheart! Thank you, Rika.

We had so much fun during this offroad trail. Our 2 boys of 9 and 14 loved it very much, and so did we. The environment is so amazing. Our guide/ driver Rika impressed us with her confident driving. She handled the toughest terrain with style and ease. She also made everyone feel safe and welcome. We would definitely recommend it!

Questions about riding with a guide

Answers to help you choose and arrive prepared.

Do I drive on these Moab Jeep tours?

No. These are guide-driven passenger experiences. For a steering wheel of your own, compare the guided Moab UTV tours instead.

Are all the 4x4 tours in a Jeep?

No. The private Hell’s Revenge and private scenic choices are Jeep tours. High Point uses a Hummer for its listed ride, and Xtreme’s obstacle-focused outing uses a custom 4x4. Book the specific vehicle experience you want.

Is a private Jeep tour priced per person?

The lead Portal tour starts at $425 per group of up to four. Other experiences on this page have different price bases. Check the selected date and party size for your actual total.

Is Hell’s Revenge too rough for a sightseeing trip?

It is a technical off-road ride with steep terrain. A professional drives, but passengers still experience the movement and exposure. Read the Hell’s Revenge guide or consider a scenic Jeep route if the landscape matters more than the obstacles.

Are Arches and Canyonlands entrance fees included?

They are excluded on the NAVTEC national park alternatives listed here. The recommended Hell’s Revenge Jeep includes its admission fees, but that is a different route from a national park excursion.
